Website copy that sells

Pretty design with weak words doesn't convert. Here's how to write website copy that turns visitors into customers, in plain language.

A beautiful website with weak words is an expensive brochure that nobody acts on. The copy, the actual words, is what turns a visitor into a customer. And good copy isn't clever, it's clear: it speaks to the reader's problem, shows you solve it, and tells them exactly what to do next.

Talk about them, not you

Most sites open with "We are a leading provider of..." Customers don't care. They care about their problem. Open with what they want and the trouble they're trying to avoid, then show how you deliver it. "You" should appear far more often than "we."

Be specific, drop the fluff

"Quality service you can trust" says nothing; everyone claims it. "Same-day repairs, fixed price quoted before we start" says something real. Concrete promises and details persuade, vague adjectives don't. Specificity is the difference between copy that sells and copy that decorates.

One clear next step

Every page should make the next action obvious: call, book, get a quote. Confused visitors do nothing. Don't make them hunt or choose between five options, point them to the one thing you want them to do, repeatedly and clearly.

Answer the questions in their head

Customers hesitate over the same unspoken worries: what it costs, how long it takes, what if something goes wrong. Copy that answers those plainly removes the friction that quietly kills the sale. It also feeds AI and search, which love clear question-and-answer content.

Writing copy that sells, in two languages, for every page, is a craft and a time sink most owners don't have. It's central to what we do. Want us to rewrite one page and show you the difference? Grab a free audit.
